With their new album “Tien’ ‘a ment”, set for release on Liburia Records, the trio Vesevo returns with a project deeply rooted in the traditional music of Southern Italy, pushing it toward unexplored and distinctly contemporary sonic horizons. The title, in Neapolitan dialect, means “remember” or “keep in mind,” and serves as an urgent call not to forget who we are, where we come from, and to make memory a compass to navigate the present.
“Tien’ ‘a ment” is an intense, multi-layered album that merges the evocative power of folk singing with the intricate textures of modern musical languages. Voices, percussion, violin, and guitar engage in dialogue with urban rhythms, world beat energy, and Afro-influenced tones. The result is a record that doesn’t merely reinterpret tradition, but crosses through it, deconstructs it, and reimagines it— making it vibrant, contemporary, and visceral.
Formed by Antonio Di Ponte (vocals and guitar), Antonio Fraioli (violin, also the album’s producer and arranger), and Francesco Paolo Manna (percussion), Vesevo builds with this second release an ideal bridge between the cultural heritage of the South and the anxieties of modern life. This is not a nostalgic operation, but a conscious artistic act that restores dignity and voice to folk music, placing it within the dynamic flow of the present.
The album was recorded by Vesevo, mixed by Antonio Fraioli, and mastered by Giovanni Roma, with artwork by Francesco Paolo Manna. Each track draws from stories, legends, poetic imagery, and social tension, addressing themes such as war, the search for meaning, gender equality, identity, and the relationship between the sacred and the profane. The sound remains anchored in oral tradition and the rhythms of tammurriate, pizziche, and ritual chants, while embracing new contaminations that enhance its communicative power.
“Tien’ ‘a ment” is, in short, an album that speaks the language of memory in order to interpret the present. It dives into the spirit of folk music to recover its archaic and prophetic strength—through a powerful, current, and deeply rooted style.

Reviews

Tien’ ‘a ment è, in sintesi, un album che parla la lingua della memoria per interpretare il presente. È un’opera che affonda nello spirito della musica popolare per restituirne la forza arcaica e profetica, con uno stile potente, attuale, e profondamente identitario.

"... La reprise di “Pluvia Ignis” chiude e suggella il cerchio narrativo ed emozionale di “Tien’a ment’”: un ardente disco “world and roll”.
